Tamir said the Irish drama Belfast had passed the test of bringing back viewers over 50 this month.
“It’s been our number one film at the Classic and Ritz since it opened and that’s a strictly older-audience film: it’s black and white, with Judi Dench, and Kenneth Branagh directed,” he said. “The Oscar nominations have pushed it along nicely as well.”
Tamir believes many older viewers were more concerned about the nuisance of checking in and wearing a mask during a screening than catching the virus.
The big question for cinemas is whether box office will return to pre-pandemic levels or whether some have been permanently lost to streaming services.
Mackey believes the combination of strong movies and no restrictions could see a return to pre-pandemic trading by May-June.
“If people are choosing to stay at home, they’re going to choose between Netflix, Binge and free-to-air TV and free-to-air TV is losing that battle,” he said. “If they’re going out, they’re choosing between going to the football, the soccer, a restaurant or a cinema.”
Cinemas were one of the most affordable options if they offered an entertainment experience that compared well.

“We think it would be a solid result for the industry to get back to around 80 per cent this year,” he said. “We’ve given up some ground in January – we did about 60 per cent of 2019 levels – but there’s definitely a depth of content to hit that kind of figure.”

Yes, funnyman Kevin Hart has announced another show for his 3-day run in El Paso, bringing his total performances to three at the Abraham Chavez Theatre due to high ticket demand.
Late last month, El Paso Live dropped the news that Kevin Hart was coming to town to perform at the Abraham Chavez Theatre. Two days later, the tickets went on sale, which sold out immediately. That same afternoon, a second show was announced, and it too sold out. Within the next 24-hours, Hart’s team announced another date bringing two more shows to the stage.

Yes, funnyman Kevin Hart has announced another show for his 3-day run in El Paso, bringing his total performances to three at the Abraham Chavez Theatre due to high ticket demand.
Late last month, El Paso Live dropped the news that Kevin Hart was coming to town to perform at the Abraham Chavez Theatre. Two days later, the tickets went on sale, which sold out immediately. That same afternoon, a second show was announced, and it too sold out. Within the next 24-hours, Hart’s team announced another date bringing two more shows to the stage.

With fun and weird powers to play with director Peyton Reed has crafted a pair of blockbusters that have their own special energy compared to the other films in the MCU – and a lot of that has to do with the strength of the cast.
Thankfully, the key characters in the series are coming back for Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania, and we’re not only anticipating their big screen return, but over the moon about some of the new stars that they’ll be working with in the trilogy capper. The truth is that we don’t really know much about the movie or its plot, as Marvel is doing a great job keeping things tightly under wraps, but we do have confirmations about a number of actors and the roles they are playing, and we have broken it all down for you in this handy feature.

Sexiest Man Alive Paul Rudd has been an effervescent presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever since his debut as Scott Lang in 2015’s Ant-Man, and it’s terrifically exciting that he’ll be back in the role for the adventure that is Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania. Rudd was in one of the biggest movies of 2021, taking a key supporting role in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, but some of his most significant work has been in the streaming series realm, starring in Netflix’s Living With Yourself and AppleTV+’s The Shrink Next Door. He most recently reprised his role as Scott Lang with a voice over performance in the Disney+ animated series What If…?

Following her performance in Avengers: Endgame, Evangeline Lilly has been in two movies: the thriller Crisis with Armie Hammer and Gary Oldman, and the action movie South Of Heaven co-starring Jason Sudeikis. She’ll reprise her role as Hope van Dyne a.k.a. The Wasp in Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania, marking her fifth time playing the character (including her role in an episode of What If…?).

After decades of waiting, Hank Pym was finally reunited with his wife, Janet van Dyne at the end of Ant-Man And The Wasp… and then the whole Blip thing had to interrupt the special reunion. Thankfully the events of Avengers: Endgame have returned things to normal in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and in Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania we’ll see Michael Douglas back in his franchise role presumably making up for lost time. Like Paul Rudd, Douglas has also primarily been sticking to the small screen outside of Marvel in recent years, starring on the Netflix series The Kominsky Method.

The character showed up too late in Ant-Man And The Wasp for the film to get too far into the details, but we’ll presumably learn a hell of a lot more in Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania. We partially presume this because Michelle Pfeiffer will be back as Janet… but the title is also a pretty big hint. Since Avengers: Endgame, the actor has starred in two films – Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil and French Exit – and she is playing Betty Ford in the television series The First Lady.

Following her performances in Blockers, Pokemon Detective Pikachu, and Freaky, Kathryn Newton is most definitely a star on the rise, and it looks like her career is only going to skyrocket further into the stratosphere as she makes her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania she will be playing Cassie Lang (the third actor to do so after Abby Ryder Fortson and Emma Fuhrmann). Cassie is now a teenager because she survived The Blip, and while there has been a lot of hoping from fans that the blockbuster will see her take on the superhero identity Stature, we don’t actually know if that’s happening just yet.

Jonathan Majors made one of the most spectacular Marvel debuts in recent memory playing He Who Remains who in the season finale of Loki, and it’s because of our intense desire to see more of him that our anticipation for Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania is extremely amplified. The movie will reportedly see him play a variant of He Who Remains who is the legendary comic book villain Kang The Conqueror, who is best known for utilizing time travel and spectacularly advanced technology. In addition to Loki, Majors has been doing some phenomenal work in the last couple years, starring in incredible movies The Harder They Fall and Da 5 Bloods, and playing the lead on the HBO series Lovecraft Country.

Truth be told, we’re probably not supposed to actually know that Bill Murray is in Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania. All signs point to it probably being a cameo that the production wanted to keep a secret until the film hit theaters. Evidently Murray doesn’t really care too much about keeping things hush-hush, however, because he spilled the beans about his role in October 2021. We don’t know what part he is playing, but anything he’s involved with gets us curious. Like Paul Rudd, he too had a part to play in 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and that same year he also reunited with long-time collaborator Wes Anderson for The French Dispatch.
If everything goes according to plan, Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania will debut in theaters as the second Marvel Cinematic Universe film of 2023, arriving a few months after both The Marvels (starring Brie Larson and Iman Vellani) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (starring Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana). Quantumania will be Lilly’s fourth MCU film in the role.

Lately, Lilly has been making headlines outside of the MCU, and the Canadian-born actress has been vocal about her home country’s response to the Covid-19 virus. The Canadian government currently requires public servants to be vaccinated, and if they were not fully vaccinated by October 29, 2021, they would be put on unpaid administrative leave. In response to these vaccine mandates, a series of protests and blockades calling themselves the Freedom Convoy began in Canada in January. Lilly also opposed the vax mandates and posted on Instagram that she supported the convoy’s cause and was attending a rally in DC herself, inciting backlash from MCU fans.

Still, the backlash has not stopped Lilly from voicing her stance. This week, Lilly addressed Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau in a video posted by Bridge City News, a program that has been following the Freedom Convoy closely, and urged him to sit down with the convoy’s protesters. Lilly’s message stirred up backlash yet again with Marvel fans with some even calling for Lilly to leave the MCU. See both Lilly’s original video and some fan backlash below:
The Wasp actress has been creating controversy since the beginning of the pandemic. In March 2020, Lilly stated that she would refuse to social distance out of fear “of a respiratory flu,” but later rescinded the statement after backlash, apologizing to those who were suffering because of the virus. Despite that apology, Lilly has continued to be vocal about her views on the pandemic, even attributing the difficulty she felt filming Quantumania to social distancing practices.
At this point, it would be difficult and costly for Marvel to recast Wasp, since Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania finished filming last fall and is now in post-production. Although Disney has been quick to fire others before when making controversial posts on social media, it seems unlikely that Lilly would get the boot, especially when so many compare her posts to those made by fellow MCU actress Letitia Wright. British star Andrea Riseborough has made thirty films in the sixteen years since her movie debut, fitting in a variety of projects. A fine supporting player in big names like Oblivion or Birdman, it’s smaller films such as horror-thriller Mandy or drama Luxor that allow her to really shine.
The latest in that line is Here Before, a psychological thriller set in Northern Ireland. Riseborough plays Laura, a mother still grieving for her daughter Josie, who she lost years before. Going through the motions alongside her husband (Jonjo O’Neill) and teenage son (Lewis McAskie), her struggle is lightened by the arrival of Megan (Niamh Dornan), a ten-year-old girl who reminds her of Josie. This connection becomes more intense when Laura gives Megan a lift home, and the girl begins to talk about remembering places she has never been. Slowly, Laura’s mind unravels as she begins to believe Megan may be the reincarnation of her daughter.
The film’s two pillars, human drama and supernatural mystery, are balanced well by debut director Stacey Gregg. The story begins with a realistic, almost mundane tone that allows the desperation of the characters to seep through. Once Megan arrives, however, unease slowly builds to make even the most ordinary conversations loaded with meaning. This build, and the surreal visuals that portray Laura’s spiral out of control, mean the final twist falls a bit flat, lacking the punch that the previous hour-and-a-bit had alluded to.
Still, Riseborough is a joy to watch. She plays Laura as wilted with grief, someone carrying on but unsure why until this revelation gives her a flicker of hope. She’s met with an excellent young co-star in Dornan, who feels authentically childlike and free of the staginess that can hinder young performers. Her ambiguity fuels the tension, a counterpoint to Riseborough’s raw performance.
Here Before is a mystery that doesn’t pan out as spectacularly as it could but it’s unique enough to be worth the nail-biting journey.

On top of continuing his boxing journey, Adonis now has a daughter, Amora, to raise. With the story increasingly focusing on the personal battles of Adonis and his family, the idea proposed by Stallone might not be the best route for the series to take.

Back in 2018, Stallone suggested that Creed III should feature the son of Clubber Lang, the famous antagonist of Rocky III, as Adonis Creed’s opponent. While the idea of legacy characters makes sense in the context of a franchise as long-running as Rocky/Creed, limiting Adonis’ story to be simply about facing ghosts from Balboa’s past would be a mistake. The main reason for the Creed series’ success so far has been how both movies manage to stand on their own without relying too heavily on Rocky Balboa’s story. Even with Stallone’s essential role in the first two films, the spotlight has always been on Michael B Jordan’s character and should be kept that way.
In addition, bringing back the son of a major character from the previous franchise would be an uninspired repeat and wouldn’t make much sense in terms of the story since Creed doesn’t have any connection with Lang. The return of Ivan Drago and the introduction of his son belonged in the second film given how intertwined Drago’s and Creed’s stories are. Even still, Creed II never focused on elements such as revenge or the need for a rematch, but rather on what defending the title meant for Adonis’ life and career.
Stallone’s very absence from the third film is an indicator that the Creed series wants to move further away from Rocky Balboa’s shadow. No matter how good the writers are, Stallone’s mere presence on a scene always risks shifting the attention away from Adonis to Rocky and will rightly be avoided. The Terminator franchise may have become one of the biggest sci-fi franchises of all time. But there was a point when Schwarzenegger, and the studio behind the films, didn’t think the franchise would spawn sequels. In an interview with Screen Crush, the Predator actor explained what everyone really thought about James Cameron’s movies.
“Well, what’s amazing about it is that no onethought when we did the movie that this is going to be a franchise,” Schwarzenegger said. “No one thought the line ‘I’ll be back,’ would ever be repeated again. The studio, the way they looked at it was it was a B-action movie.”
It didn’t help that at the time another sci-fi movie with a similar name came out.
“You have to understand that a year or two before we came out there was this stupid movie called The Exterminator,” Schwarzenegger said. “So when I heard I was offered The Terminator, Isaid to myself “Oh no, this is like The Exterminator, people will look at it that way. Is that where my career is going? B movies and then it goes straight to video, end of story?”
But it was James Cameron who convinced Schwarzenegger that there was something special about The Terminator.
“I just had faith in Jim Cameron because of the way he explained how he wanted to shoot it, it would be creative, it would be different. And I bought into the idea of playing the Terminator, based on what he was telling me,” he continued.
Arnold Schwarzenegger thought ‘Terminator Salvation’ was ‘awful’
Arnold Schwarzenegger didn’t have much of a fond opinion on Terminator Salvation. Ironically, he also didn’t appear in the movie. But that was due more to his commitment to his political position at the time. Schwarzenegger was the governor of California while Terminator Salvation was filming, and couldn’t leave his position.
But still, in hindsight, Schwarzenegger might have been glad he wasn’t a part of the film in the first place. Speaking to Collider, Schwarzenegger talked about starring in sequels of his past films. He brought up Christian Bale’s Terminator film as a type of sequel he wouldn’t do.
“[I’m open to]all those things, if it’s True Lies, Terminator, a well-made Terminator…the last one was awful. It tried hard, not that they didn’t try, the acting and everything. It missed the boat,” Schwarzenegger said.
He also expressed relief that he wasn’t a part of Terminator Salvation in an interview with ABC News. Schwarzenegger was reminded that he didn’t appear in the fourth film of the franchise.
“I didn’t, no…thank God,” he revealed.
When asked about his opinion on Salvation, Schwarzenegger didn’t mince words.
“It sucked,” he said.
Does Arnold Schwarzenegger have more ‘Terminator’ movies in him?
2019’s Terminator Dark Fate was the last Terminator movie Schwarzenegger starred in. But as to whether or not it would be his final film completely, the True Lies star is leaving that up to the fans.
“If the audience decides it’s time to move on, and to have a new Terminator, then they’re gonna go in another direction. If the audience decides they like to see me, and they think it’s cool for me to be in this franchise, to continue being in it, then I will be written in,” he said.

But there was a point when Schwarzenegger, and the studio behind the films, didn’t think the franchise would spawn sequels. In an interview with Screen Crush, the Predator actor explained what everyone really thought about James Cameron’s movies.
“Well, what’s amazing about it is that no onethought when we did the movie that this is going to be a franchise,” Schwarzenegger said. “No one thought the line ‘I’ll be back,’ would ever be repeated again. The studio, the way they looked at it was it was a B-action movie.”
